Francesca
Francesca Simmons - Violin
Francesca began her musical education at the age of eight in North Wales. She has taken part in numerous ensembles in her native country, her orchestral work leading her to the Albert Hall London, Bridgewater Hall Manchester, St.David’s Hall Cardiff, Usher Hall Edinburgh, and Symphony Hall Birmingham. After reading Music at the University of Manchester, Francesca continued her performance studies at Trinity College of Music with Gina McCormack and Nona Liddell.
As a versatile violinist, Francesca enjoys all aspects of performance. Mixing styles and genres is very natural for her, reflected in her diverse collaboration with contemporary musicians – Heritage Orchestra, scratch expert DJ Yoda, drum and bass legend Goldie, alongside various bands, street performers and visual artists. She has recorded for BBC Radio 6 Music, and taken part in live sessions from Abbey Road and Maida Vale Studios.
Between 2010-2011 she has been principal violin and Assistant Band Leader for Giffords Circus.
